REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Date: February 9, 2014
Item No.: 11.a
Department Approval City Manager Approval
Item Description: Sherman Associates Update of Twin Lakes Apartment Development
B
ACKGROUND
1
On June 9, 2014, the City Council approved a resolutions of support for the submittal of
2
applications for funding from both the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency and the Met
3
Council’s Livable Communities Demonstration Account (LCDA) and a resolution for financial
4
assistance. In mid-January, final notification was received that these outside agency competitive
5
funding requests were successful.
6
During the long funding cycle process between June and January, there has been increased
7
awareness of this proposed development in the community and this awareness has raised
8
neighborhood questions and concerns.
9
Staff recommended that Sherman Associates come before the City Council to provide an update
10
on the development now that its outside funding milestone has been passed. The goal of the
11
presentation is so that Sherman Associates can update the City Council on any significant
12
events/issues since June as well as outline the anticipated next steps. This update also provides
13
an opportunity for the City Council to engage the developer with any questions, comments or
14
concerns that may have arisen in the eight months since the support and financial assistance
15
resolutions were approved.
16
Staff has notified the Twin Lakes Neighborhood Association of this update presentation and has
17
also notified all the individuals who have asked to be notified on the Twin Lakes project web
18
page.
19
SR
TAFF ECOMMENDATION
20
This presentation is for informational purposes only and therefore there is not a staff
21
recommendation.
22
RCA
EQUESTED OUNCIL CTION
23
No Council action is being requested.
24
25
Prepared by: Paul Bilotta, Community Development Director
Attachments: A: Site Plan
