<br /> <br />1 <br />Parks Fee <br />$500 was assessed per new residential unit. This amount was based on projected future recreation <br />needs valued at $6,844,633,96 divided by 13,687 new residential units, <br /> <br /> <br />During 2002 and 2003, the Parks and Recreation Staff re-evaluated the future parks and recreation <br />needs in the City, and the amount of those needs come to $20,155,000, <br /> <br />If this figure were divided by the projected 12,288 new residential units, the new Recreational Park <br />Impact fee would be $1,640,22. <br /> <br />Staff has contacted other Cities in the surrounding areas, and the highest impact fee being charged <br />for Parks and Recreation at the present time, is in the City of Winter Park ($2,000), followed by the <br />City of Oviedo ($1,201) and the City of Winter Springs ($914,53), <br /> <br />Staff believes that due to the cost of the future parks and recreation needs in the City of Ocoee, the <br />City's Recreational Park Impact Fees should be increased to $1,640 per residential unit. <br />Issue: <br />Should the Mayor & City Commissioners increase the Recreational Park Impact Fees? <br /> <br />Recommendations <br />Staff recommends the Mayor & City Commissioners adopt an ordinance to increase City's <br />Recreational Impact Fees from $500 per residential unit to $1640 per residential unit. <br /> <br />Attachments: <br />City of Ocoee - Parks and Open Space Impact Fee Study - Revised April 2004 <br />Park Impact Fee Comparison <br />Park Impact Fee Slide Show <br />Recreational Park Impact Fee Ordinance <br />
