Police Civil Service Commission

Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, February 3, 2015 1:00 pm
City Hall Elm Room, 2660 Civic Center Drive
Roseville, Minnesota 55113
Commissioners Present:
Chairperson Acting Chairperson Janet Henquinet, and Recording Secretary Zoe Jenkins
Others Present:
Chief Rick Mathwig
1. The meeting was called to order by Acting Chairperson Henquinet at 1:15PM.
2. The Agenda for today’s meeting was reviewed and approved after correcting the meeting
and minutes dates of the previous meeting from December 9, 2014 to December 8, 2014.
3. Brad VanderVegt will be sworn in at the next meeting and will continue to serve as
chairperson of the commission. The swearing in of a commission member usually occurs at
the annual meeting of the commission. Commissioner VanderVegt was unavailable today.
4. The Mayor asked Chief Mathwig to present the City Council Community Announcement
regarding commission vacancies to the Commission and encourage interested persons to
apply.
5. Chief Mathwig gave an update on the internal hiring list. One candidate, Haivy Vang, will
become an officer when his training is completed. Another candidate did not complete
training. This creates an opening for a candidate available to hire from the existing eligibility
list.

6. Janet Henquinet is continuing to work on reorganizing the Police Civil Service Commission
handbook. She asked for clarification on the scope of the commission and a historical
perspective of the commission.

7. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 1:30PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Zoe Jenkins
Recording Secretary
February 3, 2015
