REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: <br />March 23, 2015 <br />Item No.: 8.e <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Fire Department & Allina Health Emergency Medical Services Medical <br />Direction and Oversight Contract Extension Agreement <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />The Fire Department provides medical first response to the community more than 3600 times <br />2 <br />annually. Firefighters are trained to provide medical treatments including medications at the <br />3 <br />Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level. Allina Health Emergency Medical <br />4 <br />Services is the agent that has billing authority for emergency medical transportation within the <br />5 <br />City of Roseville and has agreed to provide the Fire Department services, including medical <br />6 <br />oversight and education. <br />7 <br />In 2014 the City of Roseville entered into a two year contract with Allina for medical direction <br />8 <br />and educational services. Council extended this contract for ninety days through March of 2015 <br />9 <br />to allow for continued contract negotiations.
