I MinnPost Page 1 of 8
Can Minnesota golf courses find the next
generation of players?
By Andre Eggert and Stephen Montemayor 109-04 am
CC/Flickr/Dean Shareski
"Golf costs money and takes a lot of time," Minnesota Golf Association communications director W.P. Ryan says. "It's what
young people don't have a lot of."
In the late 199os and early 2000s, golf was roaring. Driven by a new, cool image thanks to the
likes of Tiger Woods, courses across the country — and especially in the Twin Cities — were
opening at a breakneck pace.
"Around the time Tiger was playing better, it was better for golf- a
on the whole," says Ben Lehmann, first golf assistant at theinCitiles,
Minneapolis Golf Club. Now Woods is sidelined and trying to BUSINESS
get his golf groove back.
http://www.minnpost.com/twin-cities-business/2015/04/can-minnesota-golf... 4/22/2015
