August has passed, I may be able to get a notice of the program before the issue goes to the
printers.
I have written the following description:
In honor of the SOth anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 Senator John Marty will
introduce a film documentay on the stoy of the fogotten heroes in the fight for voting
rights—the courageous students and teachers of Selma, Alabama, who stood up against
injustice despite facing intimidation, arrests and violence. Co-sponsored by the Shoreview and
Roseville Human Rights Commissions.
I can make any changes you want, but I would have to get them by the end of the day. The
sooner we get the description to our communications people, the better the chance of getting it in
the newsletter is.
I should also point out that the Roseville Library is already sponsoring a lecture and
reminiscence on the SOth anniversary of the Voting Right Act on Thursday, August 6, by well-
known historian (and Movement veteran) J.C. Andersen. I will include mention of this film
presentation in the press release on the Andersen program that Pll distribute to local media in
early July.
Let me know if I can answer any questions you may have. I'll look forward to seeing Sen.
Marty (who, until fairly recently, was my state senatar)
Best wishes,
Judy
Judy Woodward
History Coordinator
Ramsey County Library
2180 Hamline Ave. N.
Roseville, MN 55113
TeL• (651) 724-6022
FAX: (651) 628-6805
jwood e,ramsey.lib.mn.us
