Note: There is no character limit for the fields below. <br />Why do you want to serve on this Board or Commission?: I want to serve on the community <br />engagement commission because I believe that the involvement of community members is <br />crucial to creating and sustaining healthy communities. I also believe that community members <br />know best the solutions to the everyday issues that they face and so, going to them for their <br />perspective as it pertains to infrastructure development, policy, education, etc, will help make the <br />outcomes that the city of Roseville is striving for more salient. <br />What is your view of the role of this Board or Commission?: I see this role as one that ensures <br />that robust community engagement is taking place around the city's planning processes. I also <br />see this role as one that helps shapes and informs what that process of engagement looks like. <br />Civic and Volunteer Activities: CHURCH OF ALL NATIONS - Columbia Heights, MN <br />Pastoral Staff (volunteer), 2015 <br />Intern, 2014 <br />CHRIST CHURCH INTERNATIONAL — Minneapolis, MN <br />Missions Director, 2009 — 2012 <br />• Spearheaded church's outreach efforts in the Powderhorn and Phillips Neighborhood <br />• Restructured ministry's focus by encouraging members to not only give to support the work of <br />missionaries but also get involved themselves <br />• Maintained monthly financial support goals <br />• Influenced members in congregation to get involved with social justice and advocacy <br />Work Experience: ALLIANCE FOR METROPOLITAN STABILITY <br />Communications and capacity building coordinator, 2011 to Present <br />Assisted and lead various aspects of organizations communications and programming functions, <br />contributing to the following results: <br />+ Advancement of Regional Equity: Elevated need for racial and economic equity in the region <br />by organizing events which bring together a variety of partners working on this very issue. Have <br />also led and facilitated the EquityNow Twin Cities Communications table, which has produced a <br />working definition of equity in the region, prompted further conversations in the community <br />about what equity means, and produced a book outlining how people of color and low income <br />people are disconnected from transit opportunities in the region. Currently leading community <br />engagement around the proposed North Minneapolis Greenway to ensure that all residents, <br />including people of color, immigrants, renters, youth, and seniors, are educated and engaged <br />around the concept, implementation and design of the greenway. <br />� Awareness of Organization's Mission and Issues: Amplified awareness of organization's <br />mission through rebranding and project managing bi-weekly e-communications.
