REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
Department Approval
Date: Apri16, 2015
Item No.: 8.d
City Manager Approval
Item Description: Roseville Firefighters' Relief Association Bylaw Ratification
BACKGROUND
The Roseville Firefighters' Relief Association (RFRA) annually reviews our Bylaws for needed
updates. Bylaw updates are necessary to ensure the stability of the fund and proper management
by the Board.
This past year, the Roseville Fire Department has made the move to include full-time staff and
will be seeing a decrease in the number of paid-on-call firefighters. In addition, the Board needs
to update Bylaws to be compliant with state statutes as they are ratified by the State Legislature.
Both of these circumstances warranted updates to the current Bylaw language.
These changes were presented to the active membership for approval during our Annual Meeting
this January. The membership voted and approved the changes as outlined.
The final step in this process is approval of the revised bylaws by the City Council.
POLICY OBJECTIVE
The RFRA's by-laws provide the governance structure for the organization. Periodic updates of
by-laws are necessary to reflect state law changes and membership desires.
BUDGET IMPLICATIONS
There are no budget implications with these changes.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
To approve the amended bylaws as presented.
REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION
The Roseville Firefighters Relief Associaion requests that the City Council approves the
changes as put forth in the attached documents.
Prepared by: David Breen, President Roseville Firefighter's Relief Association
Attachments: A: Amended Bylaws with the approved edits
Page 1 of 1
