<br />DRAFT RESOLUTION <br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF A MEETING <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF ROSEVILLE, <br />RAMSEY COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting ofthe City Council ofthe City of <br />Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, was duly held in the City Hall at 2660 Civic <br />Center Drive, Roseville, Minnesota, on January 26,2004. <br /> <br />The following members were present: Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Mayor Klausing; <br /> <br />Member Maschka introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 10192 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE TO PROPOSE <br />SPECIAL LEGISLATION REGARDING IMPROVEMENTS TO <br />THE JOHN ROSE MINNESOT A OVAL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Roseville has been operating the John Rose Minnesota OVAL <br />since 1993 solely as an operating expense to the citizens of Rose vi lIe; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the John Rose Minnesota OVAL is home to state, regional, national, and <br />international events -- such as the World Junior Speedskating Championships this February 20- <br />22 -- that attract participants from around the world; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the state has cut all general purpose local government aid to the City of <br />Roseville; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the John Rose Minnesota OVAL is in need of operating and capital funds. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council respectfully <br />requests that the State Legislature consider funding certain improvements or expenses at the John <br />Rose Minnesota OV AL to maintain that facility as a state, regional, national, and international <br />attraction and asset for the State of Minnesota. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Kough, <br />and upon vote taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Kough, Maschka, Schroeder <br />and Mayor Klausing; <br /> <br />and the following were voted against the same: none. <br /> <br />WHEREUPON said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. <br /> <br />1 <br />
