DRAFT RESOLUTION EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE, RAMSEY COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting ofthe City Council ofthe City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, State of Minnesota, was duly held in the City Hall at 2660 Civic Center Drive, Roseville, Minnesota, on January 26,2004. The following members were present: Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Mayor Klausing; Member Maschka introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION No. 10192 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE TO PROPOSE SPECIAL LEGISLATION REGARDING IMPROVEMENTS TO THE JOHN ROSE MINNESOT A OVAL WHEREAS, the City of Roseville has been operating the John Rose Minnesota OVAL since 1993 solely as an operating expense to the citizens of Rose vi lIe; and WHEREAS, the John Rose Minnesota OVAL is home to state, regional, national, and international events -- such as the World Junior Speedskating Championships this February 20- 22 -- that attract participants from around the world; and WHEREAS, the state has cut all general purpose local government aid to the City of Roseville; and WHEREAS, the John Rose Minnesota OVAL is in need of operating and capital funds. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Roseville City Council respectfully requests that the State Legislature consider funding certain improvements or expenses at the John Rose Minnesota OV AL to maintain that facility as a state, regional, national, and international attraction and asset for the State of Minnesota. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Kough, and upon vote taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Kough, Maschka, Schroeder and Mayor Klausing; and the following were voted against the same: none. WHEREUPON said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted. 1
