Parks and Recreation Functions 2001 <br />Overall Objectives <br />Work closely with the Parks and Recreation Commission and other citizen advisory groups regarding <br />– <br />the improvement of community public facilities. <br />Promote and strengthen recreational programs and to assure citizen have access to them. <br />– <br />Work with Public Works and other departments to enhance the community’s streetscapes. <br />– <br />Promote and strengthen the community’s park system with resources available to provide aesthetic and <br />– <br />enjoyable parks for citizens and visitors. <br />Continue to improve and Promote indoor community facilities <br />– <br />2001 Work Plan <br />The work plan sets out the specific programs we foresee being instrumental in the Parks and Recreation <br />function in achieving its overall objectives. <br />Implement the accepted recommendations of the infrastructure facilities committee in accordance to <br />– <br />Council policy direction. <br />Evaluate the needs of specific parks in accordance to the Park Improvement Plan and develop the <br />– <br />appropriate implementation. <br />Provide support to City’s Vista 2010 visioning. <br />– <br />Assist in implementing the City Centre plan as amended. <br />– <br />Establish temporary community center functions at the Center <br />– <br />Specific Programs <br />The following specific programs are expected to be implemented in 2001. <br />Develop the first phase of Lexington Park <br />– <br />Increase Senior Citizen programming in cooperation with the school district. <br />– <br />Expand the usage of the City’s new community room and to host two major national/international <br />– <br />events at the Skating Center. <br />Explore additional cooperative efforts with other groups, which would be in the City’s best interest. <br />– <br /> <br />
