Attachment �•jji � HUUSI[l� � Recle►�elopment Auth�rit�� Roseville, MN HRA Seeking an Intern to Review Hotel and Motel Regulations The mission of Roseville's Housing & Redevelopment Authority (RHRA) is to contribute to a strong city economy and vibrant community through environmental stewardship, investment of resources, and intentional leadership. One way the RHRA does this is by studying problems, concerns, and issues that arise it the City. Hotel/Motel Project Summary The RHRA is currently interested in understanding more about how Roseville's hotels and motels are regulated in order to address the disinvestment in the properties and to develop a strategy to reduce the demands for police services at the hotels and motels. The RHRA is looking for a student or professional with the following background/ qualifications: • Student should have completed or be currently working on degree in the area of Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Law, or Economic Development; will consider highly qualified bachelor's degree student • Experience doing research and writing reports with good content organization • Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to work co]]aboratively at times and independently at other times Intern's responsibilities include: • Working with Community Development staff, the Roseville Visitors Association and Roseville Police to review current regulations and propose new regulations or revisions based on review of current inspections of hotels and motels within the City of Roseville • Researching best practices and gather content to address physical conditions of the properties • Reviewing current inspections process that other organizations conduct (i.e., County, State, or Affiliate Franchise) • Reviewing report completed by Hamline University student program for additional regulations that would be effective • Recommending changes to current Roseville ordinances • Reporting findings to the RHRA Board Work can begin as soon as possible and be finalized on or before December 31, 2015 with a formal report to go to the HRA board on January 19, 20l 6 meeting, depending on amount of time dedicated per week. Intern will be housed in the Community Development Department. Compensation range is $12.00 -$15.00/hour, depending on experience and expertise in the field. Expected time commitment is approximately 10-15 hours a week with a maximum of 200 hours.
