Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />January 21, 2015 <br />Page 7 of 8 <br />Commissioner Singleton volunteered to be on the HRC Award Committee. <br />Vice Chair Thao sugges�ed Youth Commissioner Cederberg participates in the Committee. <br />Chair Groff confirmed the members for the HRC Award Committee were: Chair Groff, <br />Commissioner Singleton, and Youth Commissioner Cederberg. <br />Chair's Report <br />Chair Groff did not have any additional updates. <br />Youth Commissioner Report <br />Youth Commissioner Cederberg asked if the Commission had any suggestions on what book <br />should be used for the Summer Read program. <br />Commissioner Bachhuber suggested forming a committee to work on the Summer Read <br />Program. She volunteered to work with Youth Commissioner Cederberg. <br />Commissioner Carey volunteered to work on the committee. She thought the Commission had <br />decided to tie the book to the civility training. <br />Vice Chair Thao suggested talking to the CEC because they had done something similar with the <br />School District last year. <br />Staff ReUort <br />a. Finance Update and Discussion <br />Ms. Collins stated the new budget of $2200 reflects the $200 balance from last year in the form <br />of a Target gift card. She stated she would update the budget to reflect the $300 allocated for the <br />Mental Health Forum. She suggested the Commission map out expenses for other programs so <br />these can be accounted for in the budget as well. <br />b. Other Items <br />Ms. Collins stated the City has joined a group of organizations that have agreed to meet to work <br />with the Karen Organization on housing issues that have come up. The City has also been <br />working with the International Institute that works with refugee resettlement and also working on <br />a Rental Licensing program. She has been working with Jeanne Kelsey from the HRA. They <br />have been seeking funding to provide a visual learning piece for the Karen, which focuses of <br />
