<br />(6) Any bear, ape, monkey in excess of five (5) <br />pounds, or badger. <br /> <br />(7) Any other animal, bird or reptile which is <br />commonly considered wild and not domesticated. <br /> <br />147.03 Exceptions. <br /> <br />(1) Any person desiring to keep an animal prohib- <br />ited by this ordinance may apply for a permit <br />from the City. Such permit may be issued for <br />a period not to exceed thirty (30) days and <br />shall specify conditions under which such <br />animals shall be kept. Provided, however, <br />that no such permit shall be issued unless <br />such prohibited animal is being kept by a <br />person keeping such animal for a public zoo as <br />a volunteer or docent. A public zoo or other <br />institution engaged in a permanent display of <br />animals and any bona fide research institution <br />or veterinary hospital may be issued a perma- <br />nent permi t provided appl icable zoning re- <br />quirements are met. <br /> <br />(2) Nonpoisonous snakes, domesticated birds, <br />hamsters, mice, rabbits, lizards, spiders and <br />other similar small animals capable of being <br />kept in cages. Rats, if purchased from a bona <br />fide pet store are an exception to this ordin- <br />ance. <br /> <br />(3) Medically prescribed companion animals. <br /> <br />(4) Wildlife rehabilitators may only possess <br />animals with a Minnesota Department of Natural <br />Resources permit. Such animals will be kept <br />in a manner as to not create unsanitary condi- <br />tions or unreasonable noise. <br /> <br />(5) Birds and birds of prey if kept pursuant to a <br />valid U.S. fish and Wildlife Services Permit. <br /> <br />147.04. Impoundinq of wild Animals. Any wild <br />animal kept in violation of this ordinance may be <br />impounded by the City. The animal may be destroyed or <br />sold five (5) days following notice to the owner of such <br />animal of its impoundment and the provisions of this <br />ordinance. Any person reclaiming any such animal shall <br />pay the costs of impounding and boarding at the time of <br />its release. <br /> <br />2 <br />
