Department Approval <br />�:i � <br />� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 11/16/2015 <br />Item No.: l l.e <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Fire Department Closest Unit Dispatching and Share Services Presentation <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2014 the Ramsey County Fire Chiefs Association started a committee to research and evaluate the <br />opportunity for increased Shared Services and a component of Closest Unit Dispatching amongst fire <br />departments in Ramsey County. The Roseville Fire Department took an active role in the committee to <br />assist with evaluating and vetting future opportunities. <br />The concept behind Closest Unit Dispatching will be an advanced and faster response times to our most <br />critical calls: structure fires and cardiac arrests. It is hoped that with a decreased response time for <br />emergency personnel to these critical call types, the chances to provide for life-saving maneuvers are <br />increased. <br />The Fire Department will provide a presentation and further insight into how the program could <br />potentially look, as well as the critical benefits to the citizens of Roseville as well as neighboring <br />communities throughout Ramsey County from this partnership. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />Council support to continue to work with other Ramsey County Departments on a iinished product, and <br />Joint Powers Agreement (JPA). <br />FINANCIAL IMPACTS <br />There no financial impacts at this time. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />� No action is needed at this time.
