102Much of the meeting was spent informing the Finance Commissioners on the reasons why <br />103the Golf Course is a value to the Roseville community. Holt interpreted the Finance <br />104Commission as questioning the value of Cedarholm based only on the spreadsheet numbers. <br />105Holt recognized that the joint meeting was enlightening for all and that the group had agreed <br />106to meet again. <br />107 <br />108The direction of the conversations included; <br />109Do we look at Cedarholm as an asset that should be on the same level as the rest of <br />o <br />110the park system? <br />111How long can we go and accept that the Clubhouse & Shop are adequate, when do <br />o <br />112we begin to look ahead & work to improve this community asset? <br />113Shouldn’t we be looking at the Community and its Park System as a whole with <br />o <br />114unique features and special assets? <br />115Cedarholm is an asset that should be invested in. <br />116The Finance Committee asked about a Financial Feasibility Study for Cedarholm. Brokke <br />117shared a recent study from Minneapolis Golf Courses. Based on what staff has seen in <br />118reports done for other local golf courses, staff questionsthe return/value of investing ina <br />119feasibility study. <br />120 <br />POWERPOINT VIRTUAL TOUR OF RENEWAL PROGRAM PROJECTS <br />1218. <br />122Staff shared a PowerPoint “tour” of Renewal Program Projects completed to date, currently under <br />123construction and those scheduled to be completed in the coming months. The visual slides <br />124demonstrated the expanse of work that has taken place in the parks over the past 15 months. <br />125 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />1269. <br />127Anfang reported that staff are making the transition from Summer to Fall; <br />12830 kids are still taking part in summer Recreation programs at Autumn Grove. The Summer <br />129Spectacular Program is one of the only opportunities in the area for recreation activities the <br />130week before Labor Day. <br />131Fall Soccer is about to begin. 270 kids are playing on 20 teams with over 40 coaches. Some <br />132teams have already begun practicing. Games begin after Labor Day. <br />133The Park Buildings continue to be busy. There are multiple reservations most weekend days <br />134throughout the fall. <br />135The Roseville Youth Football Association played their opening week games at Rosebrook <br />136Park. The park was crazy busy with young players, siblings at the playground and family & <br />137friends along the sidelines cheering the kids on. <br />138Parks & Recreation Facebook page “likes” have increased by over 10% in the past 8 weeks. <br />139Brokke updated the Commission on the Fairview Fire Station. The building is currently used for <br />140Parks & Recreation equipment & supplies storage. There has been some interestby developers to <br />141purchase the property. Because of this, staff are exploring options for storage for Recreation <br />142programs, Parks & Recreation equipment, Skating Center equipment,as well as Public Works <br />143vehiclesand equipment. <br />144 <br />145Brokke also commented on the heavy use of the park system over the summer, it appears that use <br />146has increased since the Renewal Program Projects have been completed.
