<br />State highways must comply with the Minnesota State Highway Department right-of-way <br />plans. <br /> <br />C. Cul-de-sac design. If there is not a looped road system provided and the street is greater than <br />200 feet in length, there shall be a cul-de-sac or other approved turnaround. <br /> <br />Cul-de-Sac Diameter <br /> <br />Necessary Right-of- W av <br /> <br />100' <br />80' <br /> <br />120' Standard <br />100' Only if conditions are met. <br />Final approval must come from <br />Public Works Director <br /> <br />D. Reduction in right-of-way/cul-de-sac dimensions. If the following criteria is met, the Public <br />Works Director may approve a reduced right-of-way or alternate cul-de-sac design. In all <br />cases, the minimum cul-de-sac diameter shall be 80 feet for purposes of emergency vehicle <br />access. <br /> <br />1) Excessive impact to adjacent properties- encroachment on home or principle structure. <br />2) Impact to ponding areas/wetlands - requiring pond or wetland alteration. <br />3) Restrictions of existing right-of-way - substandard right-of-way less than standard 60 <br />feet. <br /> <br />E. Alternatives to the cul-de-sac. The following turn around design may be substituted for the <br />standard cul-de-sac design (attached illustration with dimensions). <br /> <br />F. Islands in cul-de-sac. As an option, a landscaped island may be constructed in a cul-de-sac. <br />A clear distance of 24' minimum shall be required between the island and the outer curb. <br /> <br />No physical barriers which would impede the movement of emergency vehicles shall be <br />allowed within the island. In all cases, no parking shall be allowed in cul-de-sacs with <br />landscaped islands. <br /> <br />Section 4.
