I believe the Commission
is building a foundation of understanding amongst its members, and
hopefully will have opportunities to share that with a broader audience.
The Commission has a very large charge as advisors to the City Council
on community engagement strategies. I wish to continue contributing my
skills and experience to the Commission and to the broader community.
What is your view of the role The Commission's charge is to advise and make recommendations to
of this Board or Commission? the City Council on issues pertaining to community engagement. I
believe one of our primary roles is to help deepen the understanding of
Civic and Volunteer
Activities
community engagement - definitions, tools, strategies, etc. - across the
city departments and commissions. Also, the Commission is not (and
should not be) a programmatic body, but it can play a role in facilitating
relationships and bringing opportunities to the City Council and city staff
as it relates to our charge.
My primary volunteer activity is my role as Commissioner on the
Community Engagement Commission. I participate in other community
and civic activities through my work.
Work Experience I am currently the Director of Strategic Development for Nexus
Community Partners, a community building organization working in the
Twin Cities. I oversee the organization's communications, evaluation
and development activities and until recently, was the lead staff person
Education
on our Building the Field of Community Engagement initiative. Nexus'
work and my work with Building the Field of Community Engagement is
focused on building the capacity of organizations and institutions to
understand and implement community engagement.
BA in History from the University of Connecticut MA in International
Relations from American University, Washington, DC
Is there additional information Field not completed.
