EBENEZER SOCIETY 250o Park Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55404
EBENLZCR
August 30, 1985
Bruce Goldstein
5011 Hyatt Merchandise Mart
1300 Nicollet Mall
Minneapolis, MN 55403
Dear Bruce,
Enclosed please find information which may be of interest.
Ebenezer has been a leader in supportive housing for older people
since 1917. The Ebenezer Tower built in 1971 was the first federally
subsidized congregate housing project in the nation. Currently, the
average age of the Tower residents is 85, with approximately 30 of
them over 90 years of age--a statement that the concept of congregate
housing is successful--maintaining independence and providing the
opportunity to "age well in place".
Ebenezer Housing Management currently has 1,241 units of housing
under management, with another 373 units under construction and to
be completed this year. Our housing product includes subsidized
rentals, market rate rentals, cooperatives and condominiums.
The mission of Ebenezer is to provide quality services and facilities
for older people whose needs and capabilities vary widely. Ebenezer
strives to make the lives of older people more independent,
healthful, meaningful and secure through the development of inno-
vative programs delivered with care and concern.
The philosophy of Ebenezer is not only to promote long life, but to
assist people to retain their dignity and remain independent and
healthy as long as posible. Through our Community Services Programs
and a Food Services program accessed when needed, on a fee--for-
service basis, persons are able to remain longer in their apartments.
I'urther information about Ebenezer is enclosed.
Sincerely,
_
.
Ruth G. Mellem,
Assistant Director of
Enclosures
Housing Management
