After careful sfiudy, it was deerr�d necessary to compac�f <br />the Duilding "footprinfi", which woulcl decr-ease walking distances for <br />the eldsrly users of this indepe�dent living facility. Th1s compact�d <br />plan necessitates a slightly htgher building. As explained in the <br />at�tached drawings, this increase �n height is compensated for by an <br />tncrease in setback distances and a modification in architecturai <br />expression. <br />The heigh-� inc�ease aiso necessifia�-ed a change in the.type of construcfiion <br />to ma,onry and concrete construc-hion, This construction ls tnore durable, <br />and ofi higher qualifiy and fire resis-hance. The previous proposal was of <br />wood frame construction. <br />
