TH E
 '.
COMPACTN ESS
OF DESIGN AN D
;: The etire 160 Computer — including all
y printed-circuit modzles, magnetic core mem-
tir ` ary, and control wiring — is contained with-
y*cJ
;, in a cabinet the size of an ordinary office
r` desk. The printed-circuit modules, like those

; used in the large-scale 1604 Computer, op-
J` erate with a 5 megacycle phase rate. A high
 `
' degree of. standardization has been achieved
Y
4` ` ; in the circuit design of the 160, e.g., only
j ° two 'power supply voltages and two signal
' , ; . .,
., , , ,. :y ' , `' levels are used.
,r >
;,, . .,
HIGH SPEED
4PERATION
a r • i
; _ $
.
;
The 160 uses a high-speed parallel mode of operation.
The 160 is controlled by an internally stored program
located in sequential storage locations in the high-speed
magnetic core memory. Access to this memory is almost
instantaneous. Again, the 160 memory system is like the
one used in the 1604 Computer. This advanced design
makes the 160 one of the fastest solid state computers
in the low price field ... as the following sgeeds indicate:
' i' "'`.,ti%4t .,+ — ,,
' ( "ak n sk''yx'K's' '..
..a:,:i. ,lµ c , ff fr 1,r
,j C
,116+•' ffiS .
 h: :
..r`
,, iP
,„
;`
i4Ty . +
,
, ..+,t ::,,k 3r.
y
, . ,. .;.
