f
. _
, ";:'

- 3-
May 4, 1983
Howard Dah lgren
Plannizg Office Hours
7) Snelling Avenue
Revewed the State pla;ts and varic,us options for fronta e road im ro
in the quadrants around County Road B and Snelling, with David DrownvemDavid
h«s prepared preliminary sketchs ndicating changes zn service road ali ment
and access to County Road B. The sketches clearly indicate quite a ro rzate
ways of sQlving this intersection prablem, which we believe to be perhaps the
worst grade crossing in the Gity of Roseville.
In view af the State's intent to proceed with 75 a/25go mone toward ma'
improvements on Snelling Avenue .n the ,ve y or
the time is right to consider other servi e road imtrovementsuld appear :
be incorporated into this pro ect, with ihis favorab:le financingasituation.
Otherwise, money will be spent coilfirmi.ng the placment of service roads whi.ch
are in the wrong place and do not worlc we11. There are some problems in terms
of acquisition of right-of-way; but in general, the designs in each of th
quadrants will work well, and have minimal impact on all but a few of the rQur
owners. The Citys nrmal participaiion in such a program would be res onsibplitY
for acquisition of right-of-way, Thus, the State can include the cons P y
, costs as part of their project; however, this may be the bes time to trlon
even though the right-of-way in same cases, will be expensive. In anyPcaseed,
the plans prepared by the Engineering Department su est ve '
alternatives that would substantiall i gg rY plausible
:; intersection. Some of these ideas we havetalked aboutlbefonditions at this
accomplished. Now would seern to bE an appropriate time to onsider th.eir
possibilities.
