0
C
 July 6, 1983
Plannng Office Hours
- 3-
•
4) Vrtimag - 379-8555. Ian Caldow, President of Vertimag and Cye Bstterfield
were in to discuss their proposal to purchase the "R2E" building built by
M&M Development, north of County Ttoad C, contiguous to the west City boundary.
Vertimag is a new company, develping a process of "perpendicular recordiiig"
for computer infrmation storaga systems. They noted their company has a
firm hold on developing the "leading edge" of technology in this area, whih
will result in increasing the capacity for magnetic recording by 10 times.
Anticipate having 100-150 persons employed at the site over a five-year
expansion program. We discussed future access to the site via the proposed
cul-desac in the prelininary plat, and rode in utilities construction project
currently before the Planning Commission and Council.' We also discussed
their signage need, which they felt co.uld be satisfied on their own property
when the cul-de-sac is built. Tn thc meantime, they would like a sign north
of County Road C on the existing private driveway that now serves the property.
They seem like a very good coany to have in the City, and appeareci intereste
in pursuing their potenti_al purchase.
d
5) Mueller - 631-1454. Art MuelleY and Larry Sieberlich, architect, were in to
discuss the potential development of the Dr. Peterson property, westerly of
Gluek Lane. The site consists of 14.9 acres, of which approximately 1/3 is
indicate to be medium-density housing on the land use plan. Their preliminary
plan indicated 53 units of toanhouses, with 2-5 units per structure. The
plan proposes about a 1,000' cul-de-sac, extending north of County B, to the
north end of the property; with an eznergency access to the tennis court to
connect to the stub street platted, but not built on the west end of Gluek Lane.
We suggested there is really no reason why this street shouldn't be constructed,
as originally contemlated. ahen the G1uek Lane plat was filed. Thus, a public
street could extend from this stub to County Road B, and the cul-de-sac north
h the north side of the site, could be a private
of that serving the omes on
street if they desired. It appeared public utilities are available at the site,
and can be handled without problems. They are going to revise their proposal,
and review it with us in the near future.
6) Martin - 483-9986. Gene Markowski is a builc:er who proposes to construct a
second accessory garage for Dr. Tom Martin's property on Lake Owasso. Existing
garage is 18' x 22', and appears to be within about 6' of the street tight-of-way.
He proposes a second 22' x 22' garage, along side of the first one, set back the
same distance. We could find no uilding permit for the existin, garage, which
Mr. Markowski say is not .in great shape, and could perhaps be removed, and a
new larger garage construcLed at that location. The members of the various
board present suggested that a second, nonconforming garage on the site might
be inappropriate, and suggested that ways be looked at of putting the garage
further back, and not continuing the continuous row of garages' affect that
seems to be deve loping along these lots .
