•

August 23, 1983

SUBJECT:
FROM :
•
James Andre, City Manager
s
Planning Office Hours - August 10 and 17, 1983
Hcward Dahlgren
1) Wisdorf - 631-5096. Jerry Wisdorf lives at 1890 Dellwood, and proposes
to add to his single-car garage to make it a 23.5' garage, bringing it
within 2.5` of the lot line. We suggested a 21' garage, which wou.d not
require a variance from the 5' required in this ara. He is going to
consider the possibilities, an d may ask for a slight variance.
2) Renner - 633-6781. Don Renner, n2w manager at Union Carbide, and Bob
Anderson were in to discuss completion of their project on Long Lake Road.
They propose to alter the frant from the or_iginal design approved. We
suggested they get aesign advice and proposed changes. We emphasized the
importance of the building being all one color, that the sign size be
reduced, and that th landscaping plan proposed be completed, and drainage
water to be piped to the catch basin as recommended by David Drown.
3) Dunwell - 483-6701. Tom Dunwell, the architect, was in to discuss potential
ofice develcpment of the land west of Rice Street and north of lmer.. This
parcel is 285' x 220', for which the first phase may be a 14,000 sq. ft.
building. David Drown reviewed the drainage concerns in this area, and we
discussed ways in which the land could be developed under a PUD, providing
for a graupin g of buildin gs (possibly three).on the site. Total development
could encompass four years, ccording to Uunwell.
4) Johnson - 633-4075. Johnson has property at the southeast corner of Minnesota
and Marion Stret, and proposes to d.vid a 75' J.ot (east of Marion), utilizing
the rear portion of her lot and that of her immediate neighbors to the east.
Tt appears that a 75' lot x 160' in depth would be apprpriate and in scale
far lot in his area. Recentl.y, a lot was similarly divided across th
stret to the wesi: on Marion Street.
5) Carlson - 484-3073. Chris Carlson p roposes to move a house on Silver Lake
Road in New Brighton (1226 Silver Lake Road), where the land is being re-
developed for condos, to a lot west of Cleveland, north of County Road C-2.
We discussed requi.rements and procedures, noting again that tiie Council
would prefer to have medium-density development in this area.
