C

•
DATE:
TO:
FROM:
M E M O R A N U M
December 30, 1988
Steve North
Rick Jopke
SUBJECT: 2196 N. Oxford (Mrs. Norma Lee Peick)
The city received a anonymous complaint on November 28, 1988
regarding the possible construction of a basement partment at
Z196 N. Oxford.
James McFall met with Mrs, Peick on November 25, 1g88 and
iscussed some possible code violatiors. Jim McFall did not
inspect the insie but Mrs. Peick indicated that she was just
rplacing some basement ceiling tile and installinq a sink in the
basement. She indicatd hat her dauhter would be staying with
her for an indeterminate time, but that she was not buildin a
self cantained partment.
n Navmber 29, 1988, Jim McFa11 and rs. Peick met and went
hrough the house because of the neighbors continuing cencern.
The room in the basementywhich had been used as a sleeping
bedroom area at various timesdid not meet the State Building
code reuirements for sleeping rooms. The other basement area
was always inished off a a wide open recreation room with full
walk out access to the rear yard.
A letter was snt to Mrs, Peick on December 12, 1988 outlining
the city zonin requirements, and stating tht an inspection
woul be required before Februay 1, 1989 t insure that all city
zoning and building requirments have been met.
A confirmation lettr was requested by Gordon Beseh in a meeting
with Mrs. Peick stating that his hous was to remain in a
completely open manner with communal living for anyone resiing
in the home.
Mrs. Pick just lost her husband and wants a relative to stay
with her for some tim. The amount of. construction activity and
remodel..ing is less than $50a.00 ana will not require a building
permit.
An inspetion as stated before will be done in the future to
isure code compliance.
