<br />The Metropolitan Transit Commission will be conducting a hearing� !;t;.:

<br />concerning the proposed discontinuance of service of Route 1,� � L
<br />- which now serves New Brighton, Arden Hills, Roseville, and Falcon ��
<br />Heights. � - `�
<br />Route 1 is an express rou�ke which has two rush hotnr trips to and �`
<br />� fram� dow,n•�town St. Paul. The route begins andl ends in New
<br />�
<br />Brigh�nra %�nd com�s down Old Highway 8 to County Road D, crosse� �-�� ���
<br />. 35W, tY�en gaes east to Cleveland Avenue, goes north into Arden �"
<br />Hills and �omes back into Roseville on Fairview Avenue. The "�`
<br />route thex� gaes e�st on Lydia �►venue to the east frontage road
<br />along Snelling Ave��ue to County Road C, then down Sn,elling, makes :�=::;
<br />�`; a stop at the Har �tar park andl ride lot and then cantinues down =�:
<br />� Snelling Avenue to I-94 and then into downtown St. Paul. This is �`

<br />y xp s route to downtown St. Paul from� Roseville.

<br />There �re, however, two north suburban lines whi�h do bring
<br />passengers from Roseville to downtown St. Paul. There are also
<br />non-exgress MTG line� which car� be used to get to dawntown St.
<br />, Paul.
<br />This line i� 1 af 15 routes ident�fied by the Mel�rppolitan
<br />Transit �ommission for consideration for discontinuance. This
<br />rout�e cloes not meet the pas�enger perfo�mance standards �rhich MTC
<br />and �he Regi�nal Transit Board use ta evaluate rautes. There
<br />are apparently� anly 112 riders on this rou�e d'aily (�otal riders
<br />in both �iirections) and the subsidy apparently exceeds, the
<br />� maximum $2.45 per rider threshold. �
