In this <br />context, a one million dollar warehouse would have to <br />have $650,000 in defects (required 25% cost of <br />correction) to meet the new test. In effect, a <br />warehouse could have a$500,000 cost of correction <br />which is 1/2 of its current value, yet not meet the new <br />test as proposed in the senate bill. <br />RECOMMENDATION: As an alternative, the City would recommend <br />requiring a more rigid test to be conducted by City <br />inspection staff according to very strict criteria or <br />even a universal checklist. If the building, based on <br />current occupancy, met one of the ma'or structural <br />defects or a significant combination of the other <br />d�fects, it wou�d be deemed sub-standard (see attached <br />list). The buildinq inspector would have to use th� <br />attached crit�r�a and dev�lop a very d��ailed report to <br />certify the building as sub-standard.
