For plastics that residents set out for recycling for which there we no viable markets <br />(specifically post -consumer #3 PVC plastic packaging or #6 Polystyrene plastic, low or <br />high densities) if the Contractor can determine an item is #3 or #6 plastic prior to <br />dumping the cart they will leave it behind with a tag. Some plastics for which there are no <br />viable markets will arrive at the processing facility. The Contractor will do its best to <br />separate these umecyclable plastics out from the rest of the recyclable plastics at the <br />processing facility. <br />The City and the Contractor shall develop a work plan annually. The work plan shall <br />include initiatives the Contractor will undertake to improve the City's recycling program. <br />2. Term. The term of this Agreement shall be from January 1, 2014, through December 31, <br />2016, the date of signature by the parties notwithstanding. <br />3. Compensation for Services. The City agrees to pay the Contractor pursuant to the <br />relevant portions of Attachment E-1 of the Contractor's proposal attached hereto as <br />Exhibit B and as follows: <br />City agrees to pay Contractor $2.22 per residential dwelling unit per month in 2014 for <br />weekly curbside collection, processing and marketing of recyclables. For 2014 the City <br />certifies that there are 9,611 residential curbside units that will receive service. The City <br />will notify the Contractor by December 1 of each year what the certified number of <br />curbside units will be for the subsequent year. In 2015 the City will pay Contractor $2.26 <br />per residential dwelling unit per month; and $2.31 per residential dwelling unit in 2016. <br />The City agrees to pay Contractor $2.22 per certified multi -family dwelling unit per <br />month in 2014. City shall determine the number of units that will receive service during a <br />given month by the last Monday of the previous month. For 2011 the City certifies that <br />there are 6,076 residential multi -family dwelling units. In 2015 the City will pay <br />Contractor $2.26 per multi -family dwelling unit per month; and $2.31 per multi -family <br />dwelling unit in 2016. <br />Compensation will be subject to the following <br />A. Any changes in the Work which may result in an increase to the compensation due <br />the Contractor shall require prior written approval of the City. The City will not pay <br />additional compensation for Work that does not have such prior written approval. <br />B. Third party independent contractors and/or subcontractors may be retained by the <br />Contractor when required by the complex or specialized nature of the Work when <br />authorized in writing by the City. The Contractor shall be responsible for and shall <br />pay all costs and expenses payable to such third party contractors unless otherwise <br />agreed to by the parties in writing. <br />
