6.02 Additional Members and Change in Membership <br />323 <br />A governmental unit may join EMS and become a member upon approval by the Governing Board <br />324 <br />and execution of a copy of this Agreement by its governing body. <br />325 <br /> <br />326 <br />The Governing Board may involuntarily terminate a member if that member has failed to provide a <br />327 <br />minimum of one officer to East Metro Swat for more than 12 consecutive months. <br />328 <br /> <br />329 <br />6.03 Termination <br />330 <br />This agreement shall terminate upon the occurrence of any one of the following events: (a) when <br />331 <br />necessitated by operation of law or as a result of a decision by a court of competent jurisdiction; or <br />332 <br /> <br />(b) when a majority of remaining parties agrees to terminate the agreement upon a date certain. <br />333 <br /> <br />334 <br />6.04 Effect of Termination <br />335 <br />Termination shall not discharge any liability incurred by EMS or by the parties during the term of <br />336 <br />this agreement. Upon termination and after payment of all outstanding obligations, property or <br />337 <br />surplus money held by EMS shall then be distributed to the parties in proportion to their <br />338 <br /> <br />contributions. <br />339 <br /> <br />340 <br />6.05 Amendments <br />341 <br />342 <br />governing body. <br />343 <br /> <br />344 <br />6.06 Counterparts <br />345 <br />This agreement may be executed in two or more counterparts, each of which shall be deemed an <br />346 <br />original, but all of which shall constitute one and the same instrument.
