Variance Board Meeting <br />Minutes –Wednesday, June 3, 2015 <br />Page 7 <br />PLANNING FILE No. 15-009 <br />c. <br />299 <br />Request by Pizza Lucé, owner of the property at 2851 Snelling Avenue, for a <br />300 <br />variance to Roseville City Code, Section 1005.02.F (Materials), for a greater use of <br />301 <br />metal siding on a building exterior. <br />302 <br />Chair Murphy opened the public hearing at 6:40 p.m. <br />303 <br />City Planner Thomas Paschkebriefly summarized this request for a deviation from <br />304 <br />current construction provisions of City Code, as detailed in the project report.Mr. <br />305 <br />Paschke advised that staff recommended approval of the variance request, as noted in <br />306 <br />lines 11 –19 and lines 57 –67 related to building materials. <br />307 <br />ApplicantRepresentatives, Nat Shea with Tanke Architects, and Ms. J. J. Haywood <br />308 <br />with Pizza Lucé <br />309 <br />Mr. Shea briefly presented the proposed variances being requested and various <br />310 <br />challenges in redeveloping this site.In displaying the artist’s rendering of this prototype, <br />311 <br />Mr. Shea opined that it created a neighborhood feel and provided opportunities with the <br />312 <br />design and patio space that would actually address the use of approved exterior <br />313 <br />materials, but be used for accept materials in other areas of the exterior.Mr. Shea <br />314 <br />expressed the applicant’s excitement for completion of the building, involvement in the <br />315 <br />Roseville community, and allowing the design negotiated with staff to allow a more <br />316 <br />walkable site for customers from area transit options. <br />317 <br />Chair Murphy closed the public hearing at 6:42p.m.;no one spokefor or against. <br />318 <br />Member Gitzenand Chair Murphy commended staff for their project report and providing <br />319 <br />varying views; and both spoke in support of granting this variance. <br />320 <br />MOTION <br />321 <br />MemberDaire moved, seconded by MemberGitzen to adopt Variance Board <br />322 <br />Resolution No. 114 (Attachment F) entitled, “A Resolution APPROVING Variances <br />323 <br />to Roseville City Code, Section 1004.02.F (Materials) at 2851 Snelling Avenue <br />324 <br />(PF15-009); as conditioned;and based on the proposed plans, input offered during <br />325 <br />the public hearing, and the comments and findings, and conditions, as detailed in <br />326 <br />the project report dated June 3, 2015. <br />327 <br />Ayes:3 <br />328 <br />Nays: 0 <br />329 <br />Motion carried. <br />330 <br />5.Adjournment <br />331 <br />Chair Murphyadjourned the meetingatapproximately 6:48p.m. <br />332 <br /> <br />
