<br />NURSING HOME: A state-licensed establishment having accoinmodations for the continuous care of
<br />two or more invalid, infirm, aged convalescent patients, or disabled persons that are not related.
<br />OFFICE: Unless otherwise specified, office means the general use of a building for administrative,
<br />executive, professional, research, or similar organizations having only limited contact with the public.
<br />Office is characterized by a low proportion of vehicle trips attributable to visitors or clients in
<br />relationship to employees. Examples include, but are not limited to, firms providing architectural,
<br />computer software consulting, data management, academic instruction, engineering, interior design,
<br />graphic design, or legal services.
<br />OFFICE, MEDICAL OR DENTAL: An establishment principally engaged in providing therapeutic,
<br />preventative, corrective, healing and health-building treatment services on an outpatient basis by
<br />physicians, dentists and other practitioners. Typical uses include medical, chiropractic and dental
<br />offices and clinics.
<br />OFFICE SHOWROOM: A facility in which up to 50% of the total floor area is utilized for the conduct
<br />of a business that involves the display and sale of goods or merchandise on the premises.
<br />OVERLAY DISTRICT: A zoning district that encoinpasses one or more primary zoning districts or
<br />portions thereof and that imposes additional requirements or relaxes one or more standards required by
<br />the primary zoning district.
<br />ORDINARY HIGH WATER LEVEL: The point on the bank or shore up to which the presence and
<br />action of surface water is so continuous as to leave a distinctive mark such as by erosion, destruction or
<br />prevention of terrestrial vegetation, predominance of aquatic vegetation, or other easily recognized
<br />characteristic.
<br />OUTDOOR DISPLAY: The display of goods for sale or rental outside of an enclosed building on a
<br />permanent or recurring basis.
<br />OUTDOOR SALES EVENTS: A seasonal or occasional sale held on the sidewalk or other location
<br />outside a building.
<br />OUTDOOR STORAGE, EQUIPMENT AND GOODS:: Storage of equipment (e.g., household
<br />lawn/garden implements, larger construction equipinent, trailers, etc.) orsalable goods on racks, pallets,
<br />bundles, etc., outside of an enclosed building. For the purpose of outdoor storage regulation,
<br />"equipment" does not include snow reinoval machinery that may be seasonally present on a property
<br />for on-site use.
<br />OUTDOOR STORAGE, FLEET VEHICLES: Storage outside of an enclosed building of fleet
<br />vehicles, ranging in size from passenger cars to commercial trucks, which are in active use by a rental
<br />agency, dispatch service, or other similar distribution or transportation service. Inoperable vehicles in
<br />need of repair or vehicles which are stored for seasonal use (e.g. snow plows in summer months) are
<br />defined and regulated as inoperable/out of service vehicles or equipment.
<br />OUTDOOR STORAGE, INOPERABLE/OUT OF SERVICE VEHICLES OR EQUIPMENT: Storage
<br />outside of an enclosed building of vehicles or equipment which are in need of repair or unused for
<br />more than 72 hours.
<br />OUTDOOR STORAGE, LOOSE MATERIALS: Storage outside of an enclosed building of gravel,
<br />rock, mulch, sand, salt, or other such material stored in piles or bins.
<br />OVERHEAD DOOR: A door for vehicle access to loading docks, service bays, garages, or other
<br />similar areas that opens vertically or horizontally.
<br />OWNER (OF BUILDING OR LAND): Any sole owner, part owner, joint owner, tenant in common,
<br />joint tenant, or tenant by the entirety.
<br />PARKING FACILITY: An area used for parking of customer or einployee vehicles; includes parking
<br />lots and parking structures.
<br />PARKING LOT: A one-level, surfaced, open-to-the-air area used for parking vehicles.
