J. Replacement Tree Specifications <br />1. The minimum size for Deciduous replacement trees shall be 3-inch caliper, with each <br />caliper inch countin� towards one (1) diameter breast hei�ht inch required for <br />replacement. <br />2. The minimum height for Coniferous replacement trees shall be six (6) feet with credits <br />for each replacement tree beina in accordance with the followin� table: <br />Credit against Required DBH Replacement <br />Hei�ht Ran�e (min 6') Inches <br />Less than 8 feet 1 inch <br />8 feet to less than 12 feet 2 inches <br />12 feet or greater 3 inches <br />3. Replacement trees shall be from balled and burlapped, certified nursery stock as defined <br />and controlled by MN Stat. 18.44 throu�h 18.61, the Plant Pest Act, as may be amended <br />from tirne to time. Replacement trees may also be from bare root stock, provided the <br />trees are planted no later than Mav 15th in anv vear, and the plantin� is inspected bv the <br />Cit_y Forester or other degreed forester or certified arborist as assi6ned bv the <br />Communitv Development Department. <br />4. Replacement trees shall be covered by a minimum 2-vear yuarantee in accordance with <br />Section 1011.04(NI). <br />5. When heritage trees are removed, replacement tree options shall be as determined by the <br />City Forester or other degreed forester or certified arborist as assigned by the <br />Community Development Department. <br />6. Replacement trees for si�ni�cant and common trees may be selected bv the applicant, but <br />all fmal planting plans shall be subiect to review and approval by the City Forester or <br />other de�reed forester or certi�ed arborist as assi�ned by the Community Development <br />Department, who will determine whether the proposed trees are suitable to the site, are <br />well placed, and accomplish local diversitv �oals. <br />7. Replacement trees may be utilized to meet landscapina and screenin� requirements if <br />placement, species, and location are consistent with those requirements. <br />8. Replacement Tree Locations. Required replacement trees shall be planted on the site <br />being developed unless doing so is deemed to be impractical (i.e. due to lack of space), <br />inappropriate (available planting areas are not ideal for new plantings or would do little <br />to enhance the site), or counterproductive to a property's intent (i.e. would entail too <br />much screening for a retail business) as determined by the City Forester or other de�reed <br />forester or certified arborist as assi�ned by the Community Development Department. <br />When such a determination is made, the applicant shall comply with replacement <br />requirements in one of two ways: <br />a. As directed bY the City, required replacement trees may be located on public <br />boulevards or other public lands throughout the Citv if such lands are deemed to be <br />available with priority given to locations within or near the affected area; or <br />
