Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, April 18, 2016 <br />Page 8 <br />Recognizing Councilmember Etten's role as an Irondale High School educator, <br />Mayor Roe him about the value added in using more video for education purpos- <br />es, or in the school district taking advantage of distance learning opportunities, or <br />making people aware of adult educational opportunities, or perhaps programming <br />ability to video tape an actual class. <br />Councilmember Etten noted that the Mounds View School District didn't have <br />cable access any longer, as they were now all internet-based. <br />Mayor Roe noted that there is I -net and connections used to transmit information <br />as part of the franchise agreement(s), and asked if the Mounds View School Dis- <br />trict was taking advantage of that or if their system was proprietary to the School <br />District. <br />Councilmember Etten advised that high speed connections were available in all <br />school buildings, but he wasn't sure about the connectivity between buildings. <br />Mayor Roe suggested LTV's follow-up with the school district. <br />If the school district was interested, Councilmember McGehee opined that there <br />was a lot they could utilize, referencing the Fairview Community Center and adult <br />literacy programs that would be beneficial to viewers or if a student was ill or <br />even for parents to be aware of sample classes being offered. <br />Regarding programming, Councilmember Laliberte suggested it may prove bene- <br />ficial for Roseville to create its own "Roseville U" content by department to pro- <br />vide a generalized view of services without becoming too specific that infor- <br />mation would become obsolete. <br />Recognizing that it was a Comcast issue and not one of programming, but specific <br />to Comcast service in general, Councilmember Laliberte noted recent traffic on <br />NextDoor.com regarding weak, intermittent services and outages, with numerous <br />complaints and questioning if this was only occurring in isolated areas or region- <br />ally. <br />If residents had those types of issues with either provider, Mayor Roe encouraged <br />them to bring them to the attention of CTV staff at their general number. <br />Councilmember Laliberte noted that this information occurred last week, and of- <br />fered to share that information and those comments with CTV. <br />Specific to future revenue sources, Ms. Raye asked if reduced revenues in the fu- <br />ture were assumed, or if there was a need for additional revenues to expand pro- <br />gramming, what would be most beneficial. For instance, Ms. Raye asked whether <br />a model using the skill set and assets of CTV staff should be offered as profes- <br />
