<br />ORDINANCE NO. 1267 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 7, SECTION 703. 05 (BENCHES IN RIGHT) OF <br />WAY AND TITLE 10, SECTION 1009.03 (SIGNS) BY ADDING LANGUAGE WmCH <br />DEFINES BENCHES AND SHELTERS AS BUS STOP ßTRUCTURES WITH SIGNAGE <br />THAT THE CITY MAY APPROVE IN RIGHT OF WAY <br /> <br />THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Purpose. The Roseville City Code, Title 7, Section 703.05, Benches in Right of <br />Way is hereby amended by adding or revising language necessary to define shelters as bus stop <br />structures which, after receiving proper permits, may be placed in the Right of Way. The purpose <br />of this ordinance is to provide added public safety, comfort, cleanliness, lighting and access to <br />public transit stops. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Section 703.05 is hereby amended as follows: <br /> <br />703.05: BUS STOP STRUCTURES IN RIGHT OF WAY: <br /> <br />No bench or shelter may be placed or maintained in a public right of way without securing a <br />permit from the Public Works Director and the payment of an annual license fee of twenty five <br />dollars ($25.00). The number, size, and locations of all benches and shelters shall be in <br />accordance with the City of RosevillelMetro Transit Bus Route Plan. A permit shall not be issued <br />unless the bench or shelter and its placement comply with the following conditions: <br /> <br />A. Bus Stops: A bench or shelter may only be placed at a bus stop on an established bus route. <br /> <br />B. Location: A bench or shelter shall be placed no nearer than four feet (4') from the roadway <br />curb or the edge of the roadway where no curb exists and shall not obstruct a pathway. <br /> <br />C. Number: No more than one bus bench or shelter may be placed at a roadway intersection in <br />the direction of traffic flow. <br /> <br />D. Proximity To Other Benches or Shelters: No bus bench or shelter may be placed within five <br />hundred feet (500') of any other bench or shelter on a roadway. <br /> <br />E. Size: The maximum size of a bench shall be three and one-half feet (3 1/2') high, seven feet <br />(7') long and three feet (3 ') wide erected upon a concrete pad of maximum eight feet (8') <br />length and four feet (4') width with walkway to the curb or roadwaYßdge. The maximum <br />size of a shelter shall be ten (10) feet in height, fourteen (14) feet length, and five (5) feet in <br />width erected upon a concrete pad of maximum size fifteen (15) feet in length and six (6) <br />feet in width. The length of a shelter shall be determined by the Public Works Director and <br />shall be dependent upon the number of buses or vehicles and users that frequent the bus stop. <br /> <br />F. Color: A bench or shelter shall be of a single color except a multicolored advertising sign. <br />The bench signage may be affixed to or may be used as the backrest of the bench. The shelter <br />signage may be up to two (2), four feet (4') by six feet (6') advertising panels in a 2-sided 'V' <br />display affixed to the end wall ofthe shelter (or road wall on a narrow right-of-way <br />application) and perpendicular to the roadway curb or edge viewable from one or both ends <br />
