2016 is the centennial year of Inez Mulholland's <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inez_Milholland>
death. Milholland was a suffragist, political activist and attorney who famously led the 1913 Suffrage
March as the “American Joan of Arc”, wearing a white cape and holding a banner that said “Forward
Out of Darkness, Leave Behind the Night, Forward Out of Error, Forward Into Light”. Milholland died
in 1916, after collapsing while giving a speech on women’s suffrage. Her reported last words were:
“Mr. President, how long must women wait for liberty?” To celebrate the life of this remarkable
woman, Ishtar Films is releasing a documentary about her, "Forward Into Light"
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UsYHHCaO6k> next month.
Would the League of Women Voters, the Roseville Human Rights Commission and/or the Ramsey
County Library like to team up with the Harriet G. Walker DAR Chapter and/or Shoreview HRC to do
a public screening of this film later this year?
Please let me know your thoughts on this proposal.
Most warmly,
Lisa Wedell Ueki
Shoreview Human Rights Commission
Harriet G.
