June 15, 2016 <br />Item 5. B <br />Essay Contest Questions <br />Background <br />At the May meeting, commissioner discussed a process to identify potential essay contest <br />questions. The essay questions are distributed to schools in late August, in time for teachers to <br />incorporate into their curriculum. <br />In 2015 former Commissioner Arlene Christiansen met with principals and encouraged <br />participation. The HRC provided the attached document that was sent to principals. <br /> <br />
