2016-2017 Roseville Human Rights Commission Essay Contest Rules <br />Question <br /> <br />Prejudice and stereotypes affect the way we perceive and interact with each other, even <br /> <br /> <br />How do stereotypes affect our society, and how do they damage human rights? Where in <br />your life have you seen prejudice and/or stereotypes, and how has seeing/experiencing that <br />affected you personally? What ACTION can you take regarding this experienced or <br />witnessed discrimination? <br /> <br />Reference the US Constitution, the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, or the Bill <br />of Rights in your answer. <br />Rules <br /> <br />1.Please answer all parts of the questions. Essays can be handwritten or printed; double spaced <br />and up to three pages in length. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Open to all students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade living in the city of Roseville or <br />attending a school in the Roseville Area School District, including students who are home <br />schooled. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Complete and attach the official entry form to the back of the essay. To ensure a fair <br />evaluation, do not write your name on the essay. <br /> Monday, <br />4.Deadline for submission will be determined by your teacher, but no later than <br />January 30, 2017 <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />5.Only winning students and the teachers of the students who essays are selected for first, <br />second, third or honorable mention will be contacted <br /> <br />
