Councilmember Etten noted how having a face of who's who in the <br />community by these types of ineetings and interaction would hopefully provide a <br />better comfort level and break down even more barriers in those communication <br />efforts. <br />Councilmember McGehee agreed with her colleagues; and thanked Galilee Lu- <br />theran Church for offering their facility for this effort; and opined she found it a <br />great program and enjoyed attending and seeing the result. Councilmember <br />McGehee opined that the report clearly crystallized all that was learned in the ses- <br />sions. <br />Mayor Roe thanked the presenters for their report and for attending tonight's <br />meeting to present it. <br />Recess <br />Mayor Roe recessed the meeting at approximately 7:48 p.m., and reconvened at approximately <br />7:49 p.m. <br />b. Community Engagement Commission Joint Meeting with the City Council <br />Mayor Roe welcomed CEC Chair Scot Becker; Vice Chair Theresa Gardella; and <br />Commissioners Amber Sattler, Peter Sparby and Erik Tomlinson. <br />Chair Becker briefly reviewed 2016 priority projects as detailed in the RCA and <br />attachments; and noted questions for the City Council by the CEC as part of to- <br />night's discussion and joint meeting. Individual commissioners provided brief <br />updates on their assigned priority project as follows, with an introduction by <br />Chair Becker of each priority. <br />CEC Priorit r� Pro'et ct Updates <br />Assist in the formulation of the 2017 Comprehensive Plan Update Process <br />(Commissioners Tomlinson/Sparby) <br />Commissioner Sparby thanked the City Council and staff for this joint meeting <br />opportunity with the CEC. <br />In efforts to assist in formulating the Comprehensive Plan Update, Commissioner <br />Sparby noted the request for proposals (RFP) had already been sent out; and ad- <br />vised that the CEC was finalizing a list of criteria to help provide specific guid- <br />ance for the City Council in interpreting RFP responses and capture ideas to better <br />engage the community in the Comprehensive Plan update. Commissioner Sparby <br />noted the goal of this one-page report was to help the City Council visualize the <br />community engagement spectrum and specific criteria in their review. <br />Commissioner Tomlinson noted a variety of tools were available on the Metropol- <br />itan Council's website that addressed the public engagement plan, mostly consist- <br />ing of principles versus strategies. Commissioner Tomlinson stated he had also <br />attended a Metropolitan Council training session last week that expounded on a <br />
