REQUEST FOR PLANNING COMMISSION DISCUSSION <br /> Agenda Date: 11/2/2016 <br />OB <br /> Agenda Item: 7a <br />THERUSINESS <br />Item Description: Temporary Family Health Care Dwellings: Discuss outreach suggestions <br />from the Community Engagement Commission and develop a draft work <br />plan for gathering public input about temporary family health care <br />dwellings and, if necessary, amending the zoning code to regulate them <br />(PROJ-0017) <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />On October 13, Planning Division staff attended the Community Engagement Commission <br />2 <br />meeting to participate in the Commission’s discussion about maximizing public input on <br />3 <br />temporary family health care dwellings and to receive its recommendation for an engagement <br />4 <br />strategy. <br />5 <br />RD <br />EQUESTEDISCUSSION <br />6 <br />The Community Engagement Commission made the following suggestions about what might be <br />7 <br />considered in the effort: <br />8 <br />Publish article(s) in the Roseville Review and/or City News, to give the public a <br />9 <br />foundation of information about the topic, pros, cons, etc. prior to community meetings <br />10 <br />NextDoor post or Speak Up discussion topic <br />11 <br />Provide “use cases” in help people understand who might use temporary family health <br />12 <br />care dwellings <br />13 <br />On-site demo of a unit (or poster boards) at City Hall Campus <br />14 <br />Consult care givers/in home health providers for their insights on the benefits and <br />15 <br />challenges of providing care in the temporary dwellings <br />16 <br />Consult realtors to represent the interest of people selling their homes near a temporary <br />17 <br />dwelling <br />18 <br />Discuss these suggestions, and other ideas, to determine which engagement strategies Planning <br />19 <br />Division staff should incorporate into the outreach effort.
