The discussion is intended <br />to yield a recommendation to the City Council regarding how the proposed <br />public engagement plan can be refined, expanded, or contracted to be as <br />successful as possible in drawing robust input from Roseville’s diverse <br />community members as the basis for the updates to the comprehensive <br />plan. <br />(PROJ-0037) <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />The consultants from WSB and LHB have drafted apublic engagement plan and is seeking input <br />2 <br />for how the plan might be tailored to best meet the needs ofRoseville’s comprehensive plan <br />3 <br />update,through collaboration by Planning Commissioners, Community Engagement <br />4 <br />Commissioners and, ultimately, the City Council.Discussion of the draft public engagement plan <br />5 <br />began at the December 7, 2016 meeting of the Planning Commission, and included two members <br />6 <br />of the Community Engagement Commission. Since thatmeeting, copies of the draft plan were <br />7 <br />distributed to the Planning and Community Engagement Commissions, so that commissioners <br />8 <br />could add their comments and suggestions to the draft document. This feedback has been <br />9 <br />consolidated into an expanded draft public engagement plan, which is to be the basis for the <br />10 <br />January 4 discussion. <br />11 <br />RD <br />EQUESTED ISCUSSION <br />12 <br />Included with this report is a copy of the expanded draft public engagement planthat includes the <br />13 <br />feedback from members of the Planning Commission and CommunityEngagement Commission. <br />14 <br />Erin Perdu, from WSB, and Lydia Major, from LHB, will be presentagainto lead a discussion <br />15 <br />about the proposed engagement effort with Planning Commissionersand Planning Division staff. <br />16 <br />The goal of this discussion is that the Planning Commissionwill have a recommendation about <br />17 <br />how the proposed public engagement plan can be refined, expanded, or contracted to be as <br />18 <br />successful as possible in drawing robust input from Roseville’s diverse community members as <br />19 <br />the basis for the updates to the comprehensive plan. The recommendation will be presented to the <br />20 <br />City Council on January 23, 2017 for their consideration when they decide on a final public <br />21 <br />engagement plan. <br />22 <br />A draft Table of Contents (TOC) for the 2040 Comprehensive Plan is also included with this <br />23 <br />report. Thedraft is rooted in the structure of current comp plan’s TOC,but it includes a“What <br />24 <br />We Heard” section as placetorather directly infusethe community’s feedback into the updated <br />25 <br />comprehensiveplan.
