only pet breeding but pet ownership as well. They are attacking
reputable pet producers by means both legal & illegal &they
grossly misrepresent the vast majority of todays pet producers.
To sell to a pet store a breeder must be licensed & inspected. I
am, at present, considering applying for such a license so have
very recently looked over these requirements. I have been
involved with animals my entire life. From my experience I can
tell you some of the best rescues I've ever seen have been
founded &funded by purebred breeders. Added to that, the
retail rescues, who are many times making more money than a
breeder ever dreams of making are often supplying unhealthy
puppies who have not been bred for disposition or who's
disposition is unknown. These puppies too often don't turn out
as presented by the retail rescue brokers resulting in a bad
situation for the dog &/or owner. Citizens who wish to purchase
a particular breed of dog for a particular purpose with money
they have earned should be allowed to do so without having to
travel...& I assure you many will travel to get the breed of their
choice from a breeder or pet store of their choice. Why should
they not be free to choose for themselves? By simply allowing
a business to continue to exist you are not forcing them to buy
j!I from that business...you are just allowing them the choice in
their own community. The HSUS &their counterparts are a big
jl machine with a lot of money & a lot of propaganda &time. If
you will look into the other side of it, though it will be made by a
much smaller group, I believe you will be pleasantly surprised
at what you find. If you wonder why I'm chiming in from such a
distance...it's because all animal industry is under attack by
HSUS & animal rights. We, the people who are the biggest
animal welfare proponents are under attack by the animal
rights groups &every battle is a step closer to taking our
freedoms, our property rights &taking away
the freedom of
choice as well as not being in the best interest of the animals
they claim ( & indeed believe they are in many cases)
protecting. Good intentions, bad information/education in most
instances in my opinion. Thank you for your time.
