The DNR <br />andthe Minnesota Department of Agriculture(MDA)werein attendance. The agenda <br />included getting to hear one another’s managementoptions and survey review. Sharp <br />shooting was recommendedas the most effective technique. Brokke confirmed that each <br />city can decide what they think is in the best interest of the city. If the City Council <br />authorizes a huntit can be completed during hunting season or off-season. Off-season <br />would require a DNR permit. <br />Bole inquired into additional information ondeer population andLyme’sdisease. Brokke <br />responded that officials said this was not a significant problem in the Twin Cities Area. <br />Brokke confirmed that Ramsey County does reduce the deer population andsurrounding <br />communities do have controlled hunts. Becker-Finn asked what type of processesother <br />cities utilizeand the cost estimates. Processes vary and cost wasestimated ata couple <br />hundred dollars per deer. <br />Gelbach notes the increased population in Lake Owasso area and questions the possibility <br />of actively enforcing feeding bans in the area. Active commissiondiscussion,including: <br />Continued education on CityOrdinance <br />Deer complaints <br />Potential futurepublichearing <br />Measurements of success <br />The need to give the feeding ban additional time to gauge success <br />Potential impact of recent Natural Resource work <br />Historical opposition to hunts <br />Becker-Finn confirmed that she trusted the DNR numbers and Roseville is double the <br />suggested population. Commission agreed to update the City Councilat the upcoming <br />June joint meeting. <br />6.CEDARHOLM GOLF COURSE CLUBHOUSE REPLACEMENT PROCESS <br />Gelbach and Stoner briefedtheCommissiononAdvisory Committee progress and <br />upcoming meetings. Last meeting had 3 local golf professionalspresent. They helped to <br />providebest practices and pitfalls. Next meeting will focus on partnerships. Heikkela <br />inquired on what was learned from the previous meetings.Gelbach answered that the <br />takeaways included: <br />Cedarholm is a “community course” and the future plans need to focus on <br />the needs of those specific customers <br />Look to cluster services to minimize staff <br />The importance of the patio area <br />It was discussed that this building could potentially serve as an intermediate size facility. <br />In addition, concerns over the maintenance storage and workspace were brought up. <br /> <br />
