April 19, 2017 <br />Item 6.C <br />Collaboration with RAHS <br />Background <br />The HRC is supporting the Roseville Area High School presentation of “One World Under the <br />Same Sky” on Wednesday, April 26. The school anticipates about 500 people to attend the <br />performance. <br />Action Requested <br />As part of the support the commission has agreed to help with the setup, clean up, and other <br />activities on the day of the event. Commissioners will also have a table and be available to <br />answer questions and promote the Human Rights Commission. <br />Commissioners are asked to help from 5:00 to approximately 8:30 p.m. <br />Theschool wants to know how many commissioners will help. They may be able to provide t- <br />shirts to commissioners who volunteer, so they request that we let them know how many <br />commissioners to expect. <br />Other <br />The following is the press release that was distributed to the local media. The City will also post <br />on Facebook and Twitter. <br />Roseville Area High School - One World Under the Same Sky <br />The Roseville Human Rights Commission (HRC), along with the support ofthe Roseville Area <br />Community Foundation, are proud to join Roseville Area High School (RAHS) as they present One <br />World Under the Same Sky, a free, student-led celebration of the diverse Roseville Area School <br />community. The community is invited to the celebration on Wednesday, April 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 <br />p.m. at Roseville Area High School, 1240 County Road B2, Roseville. <br />Approximately 75 students from the American Indian Club, Karen Club, Latino Club, Nepali Club, <br />and Peb Haiv will entertain the audience with music, dance and spoken word. That will be followed <br />by a cultural fashion show. Audience members will then be invited to sample foods, crafts, games and <br />traditional activities from different cultures of students who attend the high school. <br />T <br />his is thefifth year that the high school students have organized and promoted the One World event. <br />The Multicultural Festival is a celebration of the diverse, underrepresented home cultures of students <br />at Roseville Area High School. One World builds a sense of community for the students and helps <br />them feel connected. <br />Students organize the program with the support of advisory staff. They coordinate the event, and <br />provide tech support, video and marketing, music selection and other responsibilities. <br /> <br />
