The actual <br />46 <br />time has not been set yet. The Library’s fiscal year will end prior to this date and they are no <br />47 <br />longer guaranteed the funds but they believe they would be able to make a commitment with the <br />48 <br />next fiscal year. They have also received $300 from the Rotary Club for event. Once the event <br />49 <br />gets closer she would be asking the Commission for additional help and a budget amount for <br />50 <br />refreshments. <br />51 <br />52 <br />b.Considerations to Essay Contest for 2015-2016 School Year <br />53 <br />54 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated she and Chair Groff had met with the Social Studies and <br />55 <br />English departments at Rams last week. They explained why it was challenging for them to <br />56 <br />support the essay contest including changes in their curriculum, the time of year the contest <br />57 <br />occurs and the time and resources needed to participate. <br />58 <br />59 <br />Chair Groff suggested forming a committee to do additional research.He would volunteer to <br />60 <br />work on this committee. He is also on the League of Human Rights board and he would ask <br />61 <br />other Board members to reach out to their schools to get feedback. <br />62 <br />63 <br />Commissioner Slade volunteered for the committee. <br />64 <br />65 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber volunteered for the committee. <br />66 <br />67 <br />Commissioner Singleton asked if the essay would be better suited for older participants and <br />68 <br />opening up the contest to include art and poetry for younger participants. <br />69 <br />70 <br />Commissioner Bachhuber explained the content of the essay was difficult because the students <br />71 <br />were not discussing this in class. <br />72 <br />73 <br />Chair Groff stated opening up the contest to other forms of writing or art would appeal to a <br />74 <br />broader range of students not necessarily just different age groups. <br />75 <br />76 <br />c.Review and Consider Amendments to the By-Laws <br />77 <br />78 <br />Commissioner Singleton stated under Article 6. Item A.a. Operations Committees: he suggested <br />79 <br />changing the last sentence to read: “The Committee is composed of the Chair, Vice Chair, and <br />80 <br />Commission member, as pointed by the Chair.” <br />81 <br />82 <br />Ms. Collins asked if ad hock committees should be included. <br />83 <br />84 <br />Commissioner Singleton stated the Operations Committee should include only sworn members <br />85 <br />of the Commission and ad hock committees may include residents. <br />86 <br />87 <br />Commissioner Carey stated Article 7, Item C should be removed since there would be only one <br />88 <br />standing committee. <br />89 <br />90 <br /> <br />
