REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date:4/24/2017 <br />Item No.: <br />Department ApprovalCity Manager Approval <br />Item Description:Cedarholm Community Building Site Plan and Image Options Review <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />On January 9, 2017, the Cityentered into an agreement with Hagen, Christensen & McILwain (HCM) <br />2 <br />Architects forpreliminarydesign services to replace the CedarholmCommunity Building. <br />3 <br />4 <br />At the March 20, 2017 City Council Work Session, staff provided astatus report as well as sought <br />5 <br />further guidancein a number of areas including theprojectscope and budget, funding sources and <br />6 <br />consideration of the Historical Society as part of this project. <br />7 <br />8 <br />At theMarch 20, 2017 City Council Work Session, further direction was provided to: 1) pursue a larger <br />9 <br />community buildingwith seating up to 1002) establishclearer coststo better determine funding sources <br />10 <br />3) no longer consider the Historical Society as part of this project but rather that it would be a better fit <br />11 <br />in the City Hall Campus area,and 4) seek a proposal to complete final building plans and specifications. <br />12 <br />13 <br />On April 10, 2017 the City Council authorized an agreement with Hagen, Christensen & McILwain <br />14 <br />(HCM) Architects for further design services todevelop plans and specifications for the replacement of <br />15 <br />the Cedarholm Community Building subject to progress check in. <br />16 <br />17 <br />HCM Architects will be at your meeting to present progress and check in with you for your input. <br />18 <br />Attached is a base site plan, base floor planand building image options#1,#2A and #2B. <br />19 <br />20 <br />Per your guidance onApril 10, 2017, further check in is anticipated as necessary at City Council <br />21 <br />meetings as we move through task one (design development) and task two(construction documents) <br />22 <br />leading up to advertising for bids for a project. <br />23 <br />PO <br />OLICYBJECTIVE <br />24 <br />The process for involving community membersand City Councilas necessary to review public facility <br />25 <br />improvements is consistent with past City efforts. <br />26 <br />FI <br />INANCIAL MPACTS <br />27 <br />Costs related toprogress check in is professional consultanttime. <br />28 <br />29 <br />Page 1of 2 <br /> <br />
