<br />City of Roseville <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1299 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />TITLE ONE, SECTION 103.06 <br />FILLING A COUNCIL VACANCY <br /> <br />THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: Title One, Section 103.06 of the Roseville City Code is added to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br />103.06: FILLING A COUNCIL VACANCY <br /> <br />A. Appointment: The Council shall appoint an eligible person to fill a vacancy on the <br />City Council as soon as is practicable after the vacancy occurs. The person <br />appointed shall serve for the unexpired portion of the term unless a special <br />election is required hereunder or by state law. <br /> <br />B. Special Election: <br /> <br />1. A special election shall be held to fill a vacancy on the City Council created <br />when a councilmember is elected to, and assumes, an incompatible office, if more <br />than six (6) months remains in the unexpired term and the vacancy occurs more <br />than six (6) months before the next regular city election. This special election <br />shall be held as soon after the vacancy is declared as is practical under state law. <br />No special primary election shall occur in cases of special elections held pursuant <br />to this section. <br /> <br />SECTION 2: Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and <br />publication. <br />
