City Manager and EDA Executive <br />7 Director Patrick Trudgeon was also present; along with Planning Commissioners James <br />8 Daire, Chuck Gitzen, James Bull, Julie Kimble, Robert Murphy, and Chair Michael Bo- <br />9 guszewski. <br />10 <br />11 Mayor Roe recognized representatives of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) were present <br />12 who would be participating in tonight’s presentation and/or panel discussion. <br />13 <br />2.Pledge of Allegiance <br />14 <br />15 <br />3.Approve Agenda <br />16 <br />17 Etten moved, McGehee seconded, approval of the agenda as presented. <br />18 <br />Roll Call <br />19 <br />Ayes: <br />20 Willmus, Laliberte, McGehee, Etten and Roe. <br />Nays: <br />21 None. <br />22 <br />4.Public Comment <br />23 <br />24 <br />5.Workshop: Navigating Your <br />25 The Minnesota Urban Land Institute (ULI) presentation, “ <br />Competitive Future.” <br />26 <br />27 Mayor Roe asked Planning Commissioners to introduce themselves; after which he <br />28 turned the meeting over to ULI for their presentation prior to a panel discussion of those <br />29 present. <br />30 <br />31 On behalf of ULI Minnesota, Gordon Hughes thanked the City Council for this oppor- <br />32 tunity for their workshop team and to Roseville city staff in preparing for this workshop. <br />33 Mr. Hughes asked each member of the team to introduce themselves and provide a brief <br />34 biography identifying their specific areas of expertise. Those present included Mr. <br />35 Hughes, retired City Manager of the Cityof Edina and now advisory with ULI; Mr. Pat <br />36 Masta with ULI MN, also a commercial real estate attorney and consultant with Briggs & <br />37 Morgan; Owen Metz, Developer for rental housing with Dominium; Rusty Fiefield, Fi- <br />38 nancial Consultant with Northland Securities; Max Musicant, with Musicant Group con- <br />39 sultants; and Cathy Bennett, ULI MN, and former Economic Developer for the City of <br />40 Roseville. <br />41 <br />42 Prior to the Panel Discussion, Mr. Hughes led in a brief presentation and comparison of <br />43 Roseville with other communities,including data on demographics, employment and jobs <br />44 as a point of reference for trend affecting Roseville in coming years; as well as observa- <br />45 tions of Roseville from the perspective of developers. <br /> <br />
