Consider the Community Development and Fire Departments' Request for <br /> Approval of Proposed Roseville City Code Text Amendments Chapter 901: <br /> Building Code, including Section 901.01: Adoption of Code that includes <br /> Adoption of Chapter 1306, Subd. 2 <br /> Fire Chief Tim O'Neill, Assistant Fire Chief David Brosnahan and Codes Coordi- <br /> nator David Englund were available for this presentation, as detailed in the RCA. <br /> Codes Coordinator David Englund provided a brief history to-date. <br /> From the public safety side of the approach from the perspective of several busi- <br /> ness owners, Chief O'Neill reported that they had expressed reservations about <br /> the potential cost and what did or did not trigger this requirement. Chief O'Neill <br /> advised that staff had clarified those areas of confusion. <br /> Assistant Fire Chief David Brosnahan reviewed attachments related to occupancy <br /> changes, renovations and additional building sprinkler requirements, with Chief <br /> O'Neill noting ordinance provisions addressing occupancy types. <br /> Councilmember Willmus asked if this changed the city's Fire Insurance Classifi- <br /> cation(ISO) in any way. <br /> In response and with significant changes had been made over the last few years, <br /> Chief O'Neil advised that he would need to review that in more detail but doubted <br /> the city's rating would be impacted at this point. <br /> Councilmember Willmus asked staff to look into it further and report back. <br /> At the request of Mayor Roe, Chief O'Neill advised that the city's current rating <br /> was "3" and within the higher percentile in the state. <br /> Mayor Roe offered an opportunity for public comment, with no one appearing for <br /> or against. <br /> McGehee moved, Etten seconded, enactment of Ordinance No. 1531 (Attachment <br /> A) entitled "An Ordinance Amending Selected Test of Roseville City Code, Sec- <br /> tion 901.01, Adoption of Code." <br /> Councilmember Etten opined that this was an important way to ensure the ongo- <br /> ing the safety of the city's commercial buildings. <br />
