The revisions are shown in “markup”
format so that you can see precisely how the goals were changed from the original version.
There were many comments from the homework assignmentregarding the broad nature of many of the
goals. Some revisionswere made in an attempt to address that issue. In other cases, the goals were left
as-is with the intent that they will be elaborated on (and measurable will be added) within the appropriate
chapters of the Plan.
In general, we will be using these goalsin the following ways in the Plan:
In the Visionchapter, as the “guiding values” that serve as a back drop for the rest of the
document
In the decision-making rubric in the Vision Chapter, where the goals will be paired with questions
and measurable forCity officials to use. A sample of this approach from a Michigan community is
attached.
In each chapter of the plan, where more detailed policies will be included with each relevant goal.
You can find these kinds of policies in the land use (and other) chapters of the Roseville 2030
Plan in the binder staff distributed.
Public Kick-Off Materials
The second main topic of our discussion will be the draft materials for the public kick off meeting
th
(scheduled for March 7). Attached are drafts of those materials. I will also bring full size versions of the
intercept boards to the meeting for your review. The materials include an agenda for the kick off meeting,
instructions for the small group activities (on the back of the agenda), and exercise sheets that will be
used in small groups at the meeting.
Future Cities Student Input
Finally, included in your packet are summary notes from my meeting with the Roseville Middle School
th. Commissioner Daire was also in attendance and his notes are
Future Cities Team on January 26
attached as well.We will conduct more analysis of their comments as we collect more public input, but
this gives you a first sample of what we are hearing.
If time permits, I will provide an introduction to the land use tasks ahead for the Comprehensive Plans.
Materials to facilitate that discussion will be presented at the meeting. If you have any questions, please
feel free to contact me at eperdu@wsbeng.comor (763) 287-8316.
