Small Group Exercises
Use one, two, or all three exercises – whatever works best for your group. The goal is to get all your
thoughts recorded, so they can be incorporated into the comprehensive plan! You will have 40 minutes
to do the exercises and then we will ask one person from each group to report back your top three
most exciting and important topics.
Exercise One Things to change… things to retain
As we craft a comprehensive plan that looks to the future City of Roseville, there may
be things that are not working well today—things that you believe should change
regardless of the “big picture” being framed by the comprehensive plan—as well as
things you believe should never change.
Identify those elements of Roseville that need attention.
Identify those elements of Roseville that should be retained/preserved.
Work as a group to record your responses on the worksheets provided at your table.
Exercise Two Ideas
Everyone likely has ideas for how the City of Roseville might change to accommodate
community needs and desires. As you think about how the community might change
over the next twenty years, what ideas do you have that would make the community
better? There are no limitations for this exercise—even though the IDEA CARD allows
for obstacles to be identified.
Working as a group, please use one IDEA CARD for each idea.
Exercise Three Mapping
Sometimes we can see relationships in plan view, such as on an aerial map, that aren’t
apparent on the ground. Using the aerial plan, please draw connections, barriers,
special places, or unique possibilities that should be considered in shaping the City
of Roseville.
Draw and make notes that describe your group’s vision for the City.
