To:Parks and Recreation Commission <br />From:Lonnie Brokke <br />Date:September 15, 2017 <br />Re:Notes forCommission Meeting onTuesday, October 3,2017 <br />Introductions <br />1. <br />Public Comment Invited <br />2. <br />Approval of Minutes of the September 5,2017Meeting <br />3. <br />Enclosed is acopy of the minutes of September 5, 2017.Please be prepared to <br />approve/amend. <br />Requested Commission Action:Approve/amend meetingminutesof September 5, 2017 <br />Joint Meeting with Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Commission <br />4. <br />As we have discussed, a joint meeting with the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation <br />Commission will occur at this meeting. Included in your packet are materials related to the <br />following agenda topics: <br />In September, you arrived at the following agenda topic suggestions: <br />a.Master Plan and Comprehensive Plan Status <br />Ramsey Countyand Rosevilleis updating its Master Plansand all governments are <br />in the process of updating comprehensive plans. It is the desire of both commissions <br />to understand where each is at in the process. <br />b.Planned Improvements <br />The following are common areas to each commission and it is the desire to discuss <br />planned and potential improvements related to the following areas: <br />a.Woodview/Reservoir Woods Dog Park <br />b.McCarrons Park –lighting and other <br />c.SE RosevilleRevitalization <br />c.Natural Resources Restoration –including Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) <br />Natural Resource Restoration efforts have been the focus of Ramsey County and <br />Roseville over the past few years. EAB is affecting all. It is the desires of the <br />Commissions to understand the approach for each entity. <br />d.Community Engagement <br />This is a topic of strong interest by both communities. <br />Staff will provide a brief general background on each topic prior to discussion. <br />Benefits and outcomes anticipatedfrom the meetinginclude improved communications and <br />relations, increased awareness, discovery of resources available, and perspective sharing <br />from a broader group. <br />Requested Commission Action:Joint meeting with the Ramsey County Parks and <br />Recreation Commission <br />Comprehensive Plan –Parks and Recreation System Master Plan Review and Update <br />5. <br />The Parks and Recreation System Master Plan Goals and Policies are in the review <br />process as part of the City Comprehensive Plan update. These will eventually substitute <br />those currently in the Parks, Open Space and Recreation Section in the Comprehensive <br />Plan. <br /> <br />
